MC9 is a tribute to the work of Giorgio Scerbanenco and Fernando Di Leo with the music of Calibro 35.
In 1969 Scerbanenco wrote “Milano Calibro 9”, a collection of 22 short stories about the underworld of Milan.
In 1972, Fernando Di Leo directed “Milano Calibro 9” a noir based on that book.
The movie features Gastone Moschin, Mario Adorf, Barbara Bouchet, Philippe Leroy, Frank Wolff and many other great actors. Luis Bacalov and the italian progressive rock group Osanna worked together creating the soundtrack.
In 2008, the italian cinematic funk group Calibro 35 released their first album “Calibro 35” containing the track “Bouchet Funk”.
50 years later I mixed these elements together and added a fair amount of Photoshop layers, 2 slices of mp3, 10 frames per seconds and an handful of After Effects compositing to cook MC9, a way to thank these people, the people who forged an important part of my personal narrative, visual and musical imagination.
